Our Founder, Rob Withers came here from Wales and started the club in 1974. Rob was a fantastic Ambassador to soccer and created an environment for players to become introduced to the game. Rob passed away in 2014 and we created the Rob Withers Scholarship to keep his legacy alive.

Our 2020 Rob Withers Beer Steins are available now. We are requesting donations to support our 2020 scholarships this year as we proudly award 9 scholarships to Midwest Wings Players!

Donations of $75 or greater will qualify for one of our Rob Withers Beer Steins (limited to first 50 donors) $125 and higher will be honored with two of our Beer Steins!

Criteria For Eligibity

The RWS is for Midwest Wings Players who have spent a minimum of 7 years on the club without a break and have always been in good standing. Our 7 year minimum rewards club loyalty and makes a player eligible for our scholarship. Our maximum award is currently $2,500 which is paid directly to the college a player will attend and is paid on their behalf regardless if the player continues to play in college..

College ID Camps - When a player who is eligible for our scholarship becomes a Junior in High School they can use a portion of the scholarship early to attend college ID camps to assist in their exposure and college playing search. Any unused amount is then sent to their college tuition for their Freshman year.

Our Tradition: The Beer Stien

Beer Stein: Rob loved to celebrate after games with a few pints at the local Pub. He made everybody feel like a true friend. We found a fantastic pottery who makes handmade beer steins. Each year we have 50 Rob Withers Scholarship Steins made which celebrates our recipients and Rob’s love for drinking a beer with friends. The Beer Steins are a gift for those who donate into our Fund. They are beautifully made and a tradition that is becoming rich - get yours for this year!
